Meeting 1: Earth/Mars Comparisons and an Introduction to MSIP and THEMIS Images

EARTH / MARS COMPARISONS AND AN INTRODUCTION TO MSIP AND THEMIS IMAGES  

 

This introductory session is designed to introduce your students to the Mars Student Imaging Project (MSIP), Earth / Mars comparisons and Thermal Emission Imaging System (THEMIS) images. Having your students become familiar with similarities and differences between geologic features found on both Earth and Mars will allow them to begin thinking about what may be interesting for them to research.  Introducing them to THEMIS images right from the start will allow them to get familiar with the primary data set they will use for their research.
